When James Comey testified before Congress under oath last year, he was asked whether he decided to exonerate Hillary Clinton before or after she was interviewed.
'After,' Comey responded.
It didn't take long to prove that was a lie. Documents revealed that he was actively drafting Hillary Clinton's exoneration announcement months before she and other key witnesses were ever interviewed. Not only that, but we learned that disgraced Deputy Director Andrew McCabe - the man who took money from Clinton donors and was then caught leaking investigation details to the media - was the one behind the edits to Comey's draft saying that Clinton did nothing wrong.
James Comey perjured himself. He lied before Congress. That is a crime.
But now, thanks to James Comey's new book, we know why James Comey tried to exonerate Hillary Clinton. He thought she was going to win.
In his revenge book, Comey admits that his decision making was influenced by the belief that Clinton would win. He admits that he let the polls influence his decisions.
So not only did James Comey perjury himself, not only did he leak classified memos to the media to hurt the President, but now we know by Comey's own admission that his actions were influenced by politics.
President Trump released a statement this morning blasting Comey's admission.
"Unbelievably, James Comey states that polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe. In other words, he was making decisions based on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job. Slimeball!"
We've known for weeks that the crooked FBI agents leading the Clinton investigation were compromised beyond belief. We knew that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page talked about letting Hillary off and investigating Trump as an "insurance policy" in case he won. We've known that Andrew McCabe's wife took hundreds of thousands of dollars from Clinton allies. We've known that Robert Mueller's pit bull Andrew Weissman actually attended Hillary Clinton's election night "party."
But this is the first admission that the FBI actually played politics during the Clinton investigation.
This is a big deal. Not only did Comey lie under oath, but now he's admitting to playing politics in the FBI.
