Sgt. Charles Martland has officially appealed his case before the Army’s Qualitative Management Program.
The prospect of the Obama administration kicking this American hero out of the Army because he shoved a confessed child rapist in Afghanistan is shameful.
That is what happened. Sgt. Martland was on patrol when an Afghan woman approached him. She was sobbing and through the tears, she begged him and his unit to put a stop the local police chief from kidnapping and raping her son. She showed Martland her son’s wrists, where they had been bound, and when an Army medic took the child into a back room for an examination, they confirmed that the boy was, in fact, raped.
When Martland confronted the police officer, he admitted to everything. He admitted to kidnapping the boy, chaining him to a bed, and viciously raping him for a week and a half.
After he was done confessing, he laughed in Martland’s face and dared him to do something about it. At this moment, Sgt. Martland lost his composure. He put his hands on the confessed rapist and pushed him, knocking him down. They roughed him up, there’s no denying that.
We basically had to make sure that he fully understood that if he ever went near that boy or his mother again, there was going to be hell to pay,” explained another man in Martland’s unit.
Sgt. Martland explained himself why he did what he did. “While I understand that a military lawyer can say that I was legally wrong, we felt a moral obligation to act.”
Now, the Obama administration is using this one blemish on his record to kick this Green Beret and two-time Bronze Star recipient out of the Army.
Unacceptable!
The Obama administration cannot expect our military men and women to check their morality and human decency at the door.
Obama wants soldiers just to stand by and watch while small children are raped and victimized. What is pathetic is that the President and the Pentagon’s actions prove that they value the rights of confessed child rapists over a decorated military hero…
Martland’s last appeal is taking longer than anyone would have expected. We can expect that the Pentagon is crossing its ts and dotting its is to make sure that further appeals are impossible.
The only way to save Sgt. Martland, and every other soldier being forced out of the military for living their conscience, is to push for the passage of House Resolution 451, a bill to force the Army to reinstate Sgt. Martland.
The list of co-sponsors is now up to 47. More and more Congressmen come on board every week.
Now is the time to strike! Sgt. Martland’s last-ditch appeal is just days away. If he loses his appeal and Congress does nothing, then it’s over.
You CANNOT allow that to happen!
The Obama administration’s true colors have been revealed. By even considering discharging this hero, the administration and Pentagon have proven that they care more about the rights of Afghan child rapists than distinguished American heroes.
H.Res 451 is quite literally the most common-sense piece of legislation ever written in Congress. It essentially has 4 major points.
“(1) Members of the United States Armed Forces should not be punished for standing up to child rapists;
(2) Putting the interests of Afghan rapists ahead of American war heroes is a national disgrace;
(3) The Americans who should be punished are those who created and condone the immoral and reprehensible policy that encourages members of the Armed Forces to ignore child rape; and
(4) The Secretary of Defense should immediately order the reinstatement of Sergeant First Class Charles Martland as a member of the Army.”
That’s the whole resolution. How can anyone vote against that? If we can force a vote on this, it will pass.
We have a chance to change the course of our national history. If we do nothing, then we will send a clear message to this administration, and future administrations, that they can get away with punishing American heroes like this. That is unacceptable.
You have the opportunity to give back. Over Sgt. Martland’s 11-year Special Forces career, he always answered the call to defend you.
I am asking you now – no, I am begging you – don’t let the Obama administration finalize his discharge!
