This is one of those times I wish I was wrong. Republicans are spitting in Trump's face. The President demanded 5.7 billion for border wall construction.
The GOP just struck a deal with Democrats to cut it down to 1.3 billion... not even a quarter of what Trump asked for. But that would be for all border security funding, not just border wall construction. So in reality, Congress is preparing to give President Trump just a few hundred million to construct a wall/fence at the southern border.
We went from 5.7 billion to only a few hundred million in the span of two weeks. Why? Because the GOP is made up of cowards.
Mitch McConnell is ready to move on past the border wall issue. He doesn't care if that means Trump gets next to nothing to secure the border...
What exactly are the Republicans offering in exchange for this pittance? Amnesty for illegal aliens, a draw down in funding for ICE detention facilities, and making Obama's catch-and-release policy permanent!
This is a disaster. If Republicans push this suicide deal through, the United States will never recover!
Imagine it. Democrats are refusing to give any real funding to President Trump to secure the border. They are also trying to limit how many beds ICE can have in its detention facilities. Once the facilities reach capacity, ICE and Border Patrol would be forced to release the illegals that it captures.
The Left is trying to keep the border wide open and then force the Trump administration to release the illegal aliens that it catches. And on top of all of that, the bill grants amnesty to the illegal aliens that registered under Obama's DACA program.
After all of this, the Left wants to limit border wall construction this year to just a few dozen miles of fencing. Their bill guarantees open borders... catch-and-release... and new amnesty. And the GOP is agreeing to all of it.
But it is far worse than that. The Democrats are also demanding an amendment that would tie President Trump's hands and block him from ever declaring a national emergency in order to get more funding. They hate the President so much, they want to get rid of his emergency powers to keep the country safe.
If there was ever a time to fight, it is right now!
The deadline for Congress to pass a Homeland Security spending bill is this upcoming Friday. Because of the House rules, that means that it must be introduced no later Monday or Tuesday.
The GOP has already agreed to this. Now, they're just crossing the t's and dotting the i's.
If you don't rise up and stop this, they are going to surrender on EVERYTHING!
