Something remarkable just happened. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act just picked up its 214th official sponsor/co-sponsor!
This legislation would extend concealed carry rights to every state in the country. It would allow licensed and permitted who are legally allowed to carry in one state to do so nationwide.
Not only would it extend reciprocity to people who already live in pro-gun states, but it would dismantle anti-gun laws that have been on the books for over a century. Liberal states like California and New Jersey would be powerless to stop their law-abiding residents from carrying firearms for self-defense in public.
With Utah Representative John Curtis coming on board, the official number is now 214. But there are others who have supported this legislation in the past, but haven't officially signed on. For example, Rep. Steve Scalise introduced almost identical legislation last year. He spent most of the summer in the hospital recovering from gun shot wounds and hasn't gotten around to officially signing on. But he supports it.
By our count, there are at least three other Republican Congressmen who voted for this in the past and will vote for it again. That means the bill now likely has enough votes to pass!
And yet, Paul Ryan continues to block it because he doesn't think the timing is right.
Every year, there are Americans who are arrested for carrying firearms in states that don't believe in the 2nd Amendment. These law-abiding people have licenses to carry firearms in their home states, but do not have permission to do so in all 50 states. Then there are many more who decide to obey the law and disarm, only to be victimized in the very states that say there's no urgent need for them to defend themselves outside the home.
The 2nd Amendment is the only Constitutional right that magically seems to end at the state line. For far too long, the 2nd Amendment has been treated like a second-class right, with liberal states openly and flagrantly violating Americans' right to carry. But this new bill would change that and ensure that every law-abiding American who wants to defend themselves in public can do so in any state.
It has enough support to pass in the House. There are more than enough Democrats up for re-election in pro-gun states next year who can be pressured into voting for it in the Senate.
President Trump has already promised to sign the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act into law when it reaches his desk.
There are no more excuses. The time to act is now. Now, it is just up to us to force a vote!
Right now, the Left is still scrambling to stop this. They are rallying all of their rabid gun control activists to try to scare Congress into abandoning the right to bear arms. Liberal cities and states are trying to stop the bill from passing so they can continue trampling on their residents and visitors' rights.
They are terrified because they know that they are this close to losing everything.
Don't let this moment pass. You can write your name into the history books and restore the 2nd Amendment for ALL Americans living in ALL states!
