We haven’t learned our lesson

Dear American Patriot,

Here it is, almost 12 years since the 9-11 American tragedy! And yet we have still not learned our lesson about terrorism!

Here is the July 2013 report causing great alarm…..

The Transportation Department’s Inspector General found that about ONE-HALF of foreign-owned aircraft registered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did NOT list required information, such as the OWNER.

A registry that tracks pilots is supposed to help fight terrorism and keep everyday air travel safe.  But an investigation by a government watchdog found the database has serious holes and additional security problems!

We must demand a Congressional investigation into this tremendous security breach!

The security of the United States of America is literally at stake.  And, seemingly, no one is doing anything about it!

Tell Congress they need to shore up our airplane security now!

According to the recent Inspector General’s report, the FAA’s official registry for foreign-owned aircraft and the pilots who fly them is NOT safe or secure! 

Obviously, we have not learned our lesson since 9-11…when those terrorists who were pilots commandeered three commercial jets to be used as weapons against the USA!

Why haven’t we learned our lessons from 9-11? Are we complacent?

Is the FAA dysfunctional and complacent?

Congress really needs to get involved because our lives are at stake. I know that sounds like an “alarmist.”  But when ONE-HALF of foreign-owned aircraft already registered with the FAA do not show who the real OWNER is, that is a severe security problem!

In addition, essential information like pilot certifications with an official picture and biometric identifier (like DNA or fingerprint) are missing from entries throughout the FAA registry!

The audit took place from January 2011 through April 2013 and the report reads: “The weaknesses we identified increase the risk that the integrity and privacy of the Registry’s data will be compromised.  Until resolved, these weaknesses diminish FAA’s ability to fully carry out its safety mission.”

Louis King, Assistant Inspector General for financial and information technology audits, said: “These data weaknesses largely stem from FAA’s lack of formal quality control procedures to regularly reassess the integrity of the registry’s data and information systems.”

Here is a disturbing report: “When non-U.S. citizens register aircraft with the FAA, under a trust, the owner of the trust and the operator of the aircraft must be identified. It is estimated, by the auditors, that 5,600 of 10,292 foreign-owned aircraft registered by the FAA lack that information. This constitutes 54% of foreign-owned aircraft which, not surprisingly, has led to cases in which the FAA was unable to identify an aircraft’s owner following an accident or other incident. Additionally, the FAA has granted pilot licenses to more than 43,000 people who failed to provide a permanent address. Instead, the report found, businesses or flight schools were used as addresses.”

It would appear to me that the FAA would be “more than cautious” in relationship to 9-11.  Yet, it appears, by their own Inspector General’s report, that they are extremely calloused. 

Most importantly, the security of the United States is at stake!

We must demand a Congressional investigation into this security breach now, before another disaster happens!

The report said that 43,000 people who did NOT provide a permanent address.  They used businesses or flight schools as addresses. The GAO also found that some of the 26,000 NON-U.S. citizens who received pilot licenses had NOT been verified by the TSA as required!  WOW!

Where is our Homeland Security when we need it most??

Tell Congress they need to investigate the FAA’s breach of national security!
