Democrats in Congress want to amend the cybersecurity bill to include anti-gun provisions.

President Obama and the Democrats are launching a simultaneous attack on your freedoms.

The rights given to you by the United States Constitution are under attack; specifically, your First, Second and Fourth Amendment freedoms.

Eager to put all functions of society under government control, Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress are working on several fronts to enact damaging legislation before the August recess and the November elections.

Most pressing at the moment is Senator Harry Reid’s cybersecurity bill, which has been languishing in Congress since February. But now, it’s received a new life after the Colorado movie theater massacre.

Reid and the Democrats have enlisted the “help” of President Obama, who wrote a doom and gloom op-ed in The Wall Street Journal warning of the terrible things that will happen should cybersecurity not pass.

…Just like terrible things will happen if we don’t pass the stimulus.

…Just like terrible things will happen if we don’t raise taxes.

…Just like terrible things will happen if we don’t enact Obamacare.

The only terrible thing that will happen if this bill fails is, the American people will get to keep their freedom and the Democrats and socialists in power right now will lose more control.

The Democrats drafted cybersecurity behind closed doors and refused to let Republicans in on the negotiations. But, when they realized the bill wasn’t going to go anywhere without bipartisan support, they changed their tune. Now, they are begging Republicans to work with them on cybersecurity and get it passed THIS WEEK.

And, in the wake of the Colorado theater shootings, they are trying to add gun control language to the bill!

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) wants to limit the purchase of high capacity magazines for “some” consumers. In other words, Schumer wants to take the first steps to limit and eventually eliminate the Second Amendment.

“We can debate where to draw the line of reasonableness, but we might be able to come to an agreement in the middle,” Schumer said. “Maybe, maybe, maybe we can pass some laws that might, might, might stop some of the unnecessary casualties … maybe there’s a way we can come together and try to break through the log jam and make sure the country is a better place.”

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, perhaps in a nod to what he expects is coming, told “Fox News Sunday” that the Second Amendment could still have “limitations” imposed. He said what those limitations are “will depend on what the society understood were reasonable limitations at the (future) time.”

Trust us, liberals will use whatever loophole they can to weaken the American people. They will do whatever possible to take our freedoms away, one by one, and of course, the only way to do that will be to take our Second Amendment rights away so we will be unable to defend ourselves against tyranny.

The United Nations worked on a Small Arms Treaty during the month of July, but thankfully, IT stalled (although it will be back in six months!).

This is due in great deal to the fact that citizens like you sent faxes to Congress, phoned your representatives and spoke out telling  them to keep their hands off the Second Amendment. During late negotiations, the U.S. delegation could not agree to the drafted Treaty and ultimately did not sign it.

That is great news. But, it doesn’t mean the fight to keep our rights is over. In fact, it just means those in Congress who are intent on giving full control to the government are going to have to find other ways to limit and regulate your activities.

Slipping gun control language into an already flawed and dangerous cybersecurity bill is just the next step while we wait for the United Nations to come back with another Small Arms Treaty.

Hopefully, that won’t happen until we have someone in the White House who respects our Constitution.

In the meantime, we have to keep an eye on Congress and maintain pressure on every Member to preserve, support and respect our Constitution.

Harry Reid wants private networks to be placed under the control of the Department of Homeland Security. That means private enterprise will become a state-run behemoth, and your sensitive, personal information will be less secure and more prone to hackers.

And the government will have access to your information, of course, and they can do anything they want with it.

Reid is so anxious to get his bill passed that he is pushing this legislation over the defense authorization bill. That led Senator John McCain to ask why a bill that has “languished for over five months at the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, with no committee markup or normal committee process, should take precedence over a bill which was vetted over a period of four months by the Senate Armed Services Committee and reported to the floor with the unanimous support of all 26 members.”

It’s clear that defense is not a priority for the Democrats, but getting a hold of your personal information is.

The cybersecurity bill is broad and vague and opens up the Internet to a host of government regulations and control. It is ill-conceived and no one knows quite where it will lead—but those opposed to it know the more we open private enterprise up for government control, the worse off we are.

The Internet, one of the freest mediums available, is under threat. Reid is determined to get the bill passed, and now Schumer and other Democrats are using it to push through gun control.

You may be interested to know that Senator Rand Paul has introduced a Declaration of Internet Freedom, which states what the government cannot do when it comes to Internet regulation.

We support his Declaration, which reads, in part:

DECLARATION OF INTERNET FREEDOM

The best policymakers can do is to respect the following core principles of “Internet Freedom”:

Humility. First, do no harm. Often, government’s best response is to do nothing. Competition, disruptive technological change, and criticism from civil society tend to resolve problems better, and faster, than government can.

Rule of Law. When you must intervene, start small. [W]hen regulators act without legal authority, or regulate by intimidation, they undermine the rule of law, no matter how noble their intentions.

Free Expression. Don’t stifle the free flow of information, compel speech, or hold intermediaries responsible for the speech they carry. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act together provide an effective basis for reconciling free speech with other values.

Innovation. Protect the freedom to innovate and create without government’s permission, provided others’ rights are respected. Don’t block — or mandate — new technologies. Don’t punish innovators for their users’ actions.

Broadband. Government is the greatest obstacle to the emergence of fast and affordable broadband networks. Rather than subsidizing yesterday’s networks, free the market to build tomorrow’s. End central planning of spectrum and legal barriers to competition.

Openness. Let technologies evolve and intervene, if at all, only when an abuse of market power clearly harms consumers.

Competition. Antitrust is regulation; it usually fails to foresee what ultimately serves consumer welfare.

Privacy. Don’t coerce private companies to disclose consumers’ data. If law enforcement needs private data, they should follow the procedures required by the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Please take a moment to fax Congress and tell them to vote “NO” on the Cybersecurity Act, "NO" to new Gun Control Regulations.

If this passes, every activity you participate in online—whether it’s banking, shopping, playing games, engaging in social media, or posting on a blog—will fall under the domain of the United States government.

If they deem you, or the site you are on as a “threat,” it can be shut down.

It will limit enterprise in America. It will limit your free speech. And now, thanks to Chuck Schumer, it will limit your gun rights.
