A new illegal migrant caravan has departed from Honduras and began marching on the US-Mexico border this morning. With the initial caravan estimated to total around 500 people, it will grow in size as it picks up more people in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico.
President Trump used the news to blast Congressional Democrats on Twitter, laughing at their idea that more drones or cameras would stop a caravan this size from crossing the open parts of the border...
"A big new Caravan is heading up to our southern border from Honduras. Tell Nancy and Chuck that a drone flying around will not stop them. Only a wall will work. Only a wall, or steel barrier, will keep our country safe! Stop playing political games and end the shutdown!"
We know just how dangerous these caravans are. Border Patrol agents reported a 300% increase in assaults after the caravan arrived at the border. The CDC is on hand studying why there was an influx of illegal aliens diagnosed with dangerous diseases, like HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis, after the caravan arrived.
We have seen the footage of the violent caravan migrants trying to rush the border. We have seen the pictures of thousands of these illegal aliens walking to the edge of the 18-foot bollard-style border fence and just hopping over onto US soil once the fence disappears.
President Trump tried to use an executive order to reform our asylum system to deal with the previous caravan. However, a leftist judge intervened and ruled that illegal aliens can seek asylum, regardless of how the enter the United States.
Our immigration laws are so broken, that as soon as these migrants step just one toe onto US soil, they will be afforded full asylum rights. This is what Trump means when he says a drone won't stop them. Only a barrier will.
A new caravan is literally marching on the gates and Congress is doing nothing to stop them!
A year ago, Chuck Schumer and the Democrats wanted to give Trump 1.6 billion for border security, with only a small fraction of that being usable for new wall construction. Trump would be allowed to upgrade existing fencing, but the new border wall designs would be strictly off limits.
Today, that number sits at zero. Democrats are refusing to appropriate anything for border security.
This is quite possibly the last time border wall funding will ever be able to pass Congress and the spineless Republicans want to settle for next to nothing.
We saw this in the mid-2000s. Republicans passed the Secure Fence Act and the minute the Democrats took over power in 2006, they blocked the funding from being appropriated. Democrats are trying it again.
By the time this new caravan reaches the border and tries to invade the US, it will number in the thousands.
Not only has Congress refused to approve border wall construction, but they have deliberately tied Border Patrol's hands to stop them from actually securing the border.
President Trump is done watching the GOP surrender on immigration. He has forced the GOP to fight for border wall funding, but we are already seeing the Congressional Republicans' resolve start to buckle. President Trump needs your help to hold Congress' feet to the fire and force the border wall funding through!
This shutdown fight is Congress' last chance to secure the border. Years from now, future generations will learn about this fight to secure the border. What do you want the history books to say?
