The FBI just released the results from a new study... and they're really good for gun rights supporters. When there is an active shooting taking place, armed civilians are 94% effective at either neutralizing the shooter or ending the spree.
When violence breaks out, the police are minutes away. But an armed citizen can exercise his or her right to protect themselves and the community at large.
For the last 3 years, we have been pressuring Congress to pass a piece of legislation known as the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Under this proposed law, anyone licensed or permitted to carry a concealed weapon for self defense in one state would automatically be allowed to carry in every state.
Basically, this bill would force states to treat out-of-state carry permits the same way they treat out-of-state driver's licenses. It doesn't matter what state you took your driving test in. Even though traffic laws are different around the country, the basics of driving remain the same wherever you go. If someone learned how to drive in Texas, for example, they're still allowed to drive in New York. They have to do all of the research on New York's traffic laws, but they're still allowed to drive.
That's not the case with concealed carry permits. If you have a Texas carry permit, you can't carry in New York. In fact, New York doesn't accept ANY out-of-state carry permit. To them, the right to bear arms doesn't exist.
Right now a quarter of all Americans live in states that refuse to honor any other state's carry permits. Those states -- like Maryland, New Jersey, and California -- all refuse to issue carry permits to their citizens as well.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would change all of that! Not only would the bill create nationwide reciprocity but it would also finally give law-abiding citizens living in anti-gun states to get carry permits of their own!
But with Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats taking over power in Washington in 43 days, we're running out of time to push this through!
This is really important. In addition to giving reciprocity to people who already have carry permits, this bill would finally give tens of millions of Americans the power to carry guns in their own states!
States like New Jersey and California refuse to allow everyday citizens to exercise their right to bear arms. You're free to apply, but unless you have serious connections, your application will be rejected. Not because you're dangerous. In these states, the police departments and judges don't believe in the right to carry at all.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would allow law-abiding citizens to bypass these unconstitutional carry bans. A New Jersey resident would be able to get a non-resident carry permit from states like Utah or Florida and use that permit to carry nationwide... including in their home state of New Jersey!
This is a big deal. The 25% of Americans living in these anti-carry states would finally have their right to self-defense restored!
Unfortunately, the clock is ticking. We are 43 days away from a Leftist takeover of the House of Representatives and GOP refuses to schedule votes on any pro-gun legislation. Nancy Pelosi isn't just promising to block pro-gun bills. She wants to push through massive gun control programs.
We are looking at what could be our last chance to restore the right to carry to all Americans and protect it for generations to come!
Ronald Reagan once said that freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction. We are at that point in our history right now. We know that Democrats take over the House on January 3rd.
We are running out of time to get this done.
The GOP has been stalling for two years, refusing to let the bill even out of committee. Now, they're trying to stall for another 6 weeks. They know that if they get away with it, the push for gun rights is over.
Don't let them stab American gun owners in the back!
