Democrats have unveiled a new backdoor gun control bill to go after your 2nd Amendment rights!
Every day, Democrats are looking for ways to push their radical anti-gun agenda through.
They know that they won't be able to get Republicans or President Trump to sign off on a total gun ban. So instead, they are pushing forward bills to target your 2nd Amendment rights in other ways.
We here at Conservative Daily have extensively covered the Left's push for a nationwide Red Flag Law, which would allow police to confiscate guns from innocent gun owners. With your help, we have pushed back and stopped the GOP from advancing this unconstitutional legislation.
But today, I want to talk about a bill that the media isn't covering. And it is just as dangerous as the rest of the Democrats' anti-gun agenda!
The bill is called the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act (HR3984/S1939).
It would open the door for anti-gun activists to sue gun manufacturers, distributers, and sellers whenever one of their firearms is used in a crime.
This bill has one goal and one goal only: to bankrupt the firearm industry.
The Left knows that they can't ban guns outright, so they want to give their allies the power to drive the gun industry out of business!
This has happened before. In the 1990s, anti-gun organizations targeted manufacturers like Smith & Wesson. They filed lawsuits blaming the gun manufacturers when criminals used their products to commit crimes.
The lawsuits were threatening to drive the industry belly-up. President Bill Clinton stepped in and brokered a "deal": gun control groups would stop trying to drive manufacturers and gun stores out of business and the industry would "voluntarily" adopt new gun control regulations.
At the time, Congress refused to pass gun control laws. The Assault Weapon Ban passed in 1994 ended up forcing Democrats out of office. After Republicans took over, Clinton's gun control agenda was dead on arrival. So, the Left used these lawsuits to force the gun industry to "voluntarily" adopt stricter regulations or else face bankruptcy.
In 2005, Republicans passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). The bill protects the gun industry from ever having to face these sorts of frivolous lawsuits again.
If someone commits a murder with a hammer, the victim's family isn't allowed to blame Home Depot or Lowe's for the crime. It simply doesn't make sense. Just because a store sold something that can be used as a weapon doesn't mean they are responsible for how their customer chooses to use it. The PLCAA applied this same logic to protect the gun industry.
Of course, Democrats are now trying to sneak their bill -- the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act -- through to repeal this 2005 law. They are calling it a "compromise."
The key part of the legislation is just 15-words long.
"Sections 2 through 4 of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (15 U.S.C. 7901-7903) are repealed."
With Congress about to vote on massive spending bills that are thousands of pages long, the Left can slip this one-sentence in as an amendment and we wouldn't even know until it was too late.
That is why we need to kill this bill now before it moves forward!
Just like back in the 1990s, the Left is trying to sue gun companies to force them to adopt their gun control agenda. But this time, they are going for it all. The Left wants to use this to pressure gun companies to stop manufacturing certain types of firearms. Last year, gun control organizations sued Remington, the company that manufactured the AR-15 used in the Sandy Hook shooting. Their argument was that AR-15s are too dangerous for civilians to own, and that Remington should have known better.
On Sunday, a gun man used a semi-automatic rifle to kill three people and injure 12 others at a food festival in California. The shooter broke the law by purchasing his rifle in Nevada (the rifle is banned in California and Federal law requires that gun purchases across state lines comply with a buyer's home state gun laws). He then illegally transported the gun into the state and broke dozens of laws when he went on his shooting spree.
But the Left is now going after the gun store that sold him the gun. Even though the store owner had no idea what this monster was planning, liberal organizations want to make an example out of him. They want to go after him, the distributor who sold the store the gun, the company that built the rifle, and even the company that imported the parts kit from overseas.
This isn't justice. This is just an attempt to hijack a tragedy to push their gun control agenda. And if the Left is able to sneak this bill through, then it is all over.
This bill is nothing but a backdoor gun ban. Democrats know that they face an uphill battle trying to impose their gun control agenda on the country. They know that there is no appetite in Congress to pass a sweeping gun ban. But this legislation would let them outsource their plan to gun control organizations. Instead of Congress banning assault weapons, this new legislation would allow gun control groups to sue weapons manufacturers and sellers out of business.
When it comes to constitutional rights, if you don't use them, you lose them.
If you don't force Congress to kill this bill, the Left will find a way to push it through!
