This election had many winners and losers.
One of the biggest losers was the Islamic Republic of Iran. Under our current spineless President’s “leadership,” Iran has enjoyed what easily could be the most one-sided nuclear deal in world history. Donald Trump has promised to end that.
The nuclear agreement that Obama signed with Iran isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Iran still hasn’t let UN, US, or IAEA inspectors into its sites, they continue to advance their nuclear missile program, and just last week, the Islamic Republic was caught violating the treaty by stockpiling more nuclear material than it is allowed to hold…
Yesterday, Speaker Paul Ryan, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce sent Barack Obama a letter. Here’s what they said to the President:
“We respectfully request that your administration take no further action that bolsters international investment in Iran.”
Pretty pathetic, right? Respectfully request? This is coming from the man who has the Power of the Purse...
No sooner had the letter reached the White House, Reuters announced that the Obama administration had approved a massive business permit and was pushing through a new flurry of business permits so that additional corporations can do business in Iran.
It is time to tell Paul Ryan and the GOP that their sternly-worded letter has failed and for you to demand real action!
Obama’s logic is simple. If he can approve as many business permits as possible, it will be harder for Donald Trump to snap the sanctions back into place.
It’s one thing to take on a foreign country; it’s an entirely different story to take on hundreds of American companies that have invested billions in doing business in that country…
Iran has been caught advancing its ballistic missile program and developing missiles solely designed for delivering nuclear payloads. They have been caught twice stockpiling more ‘Heavy Water’ – a material used as a moderator in nuclear reactors – than the agreement allows them to hold.
Remember when Iran captured our sailors after their patrol boat broke down and drifted into Iranian waters? Remember when they violated international law by detaining them and parading them around?
When will Congress learn that a sternly worded letter isn’t enough to stop this President?
Last year, they wrote a letter demanding that Obama cease and desist all attempts to enact the UN’s gun control agenda. Obama ignored the letter, and the constitution, and signed the UN Arms Trade Treaty anyway. This year, they demanded that he cease and desist all payments to the UN Climate Treaty. So far, Obama has “donated” hundreds of millions of dollars without Congressional approval.
Now, these spineless GOP leaders expect a sternly worded letter to stop Obama from trying to cement the horrible Iran deal...
In the coming week, Congress will have to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR). This will fund the US government until March or May, at which point President Trump’s full budget will be passed.
A CR is essentially kicking the budgetary can down the road. But this Continuing Resolution is different. This is the last time that Congress will ever fund the Obama administration.
If Congress does nothing, then Obama will get away with handing out even more permits for companies to do business in Iran. If the President succeeds, it will be that much harder to snap-back the sanctions.
But if We the People can force Congress to intervene and cut off the funding, then we have a real chance to gut this deal come-January and put real, lasting sanctions in place to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program!
