It has been a week since the Obama administration announced its rollout of the Social Security gun ban.
As you know, hundreds of thousands of Americans now face disarmament simply because they checked a box on a Social Security form saying they want a family member or friend to help them manage their finances.
For decades, the SSA has used this provision to help make lives easier for beneficiaries. When elderly Americans reach the age when they’re no longer comfortable driving, this representative payee system allows a family member or friend to deposit their benefits checks, for example, or pick up their prescription medications.
Others simply recognize that they are no good at paying their bills on-time and want someone to help keep them to deadlines.
What the Obama administration has done is truly treacherous. After encouraging people to use this service, they have now decided to take everyone who receives help with their finances and add them to the FBI’s firearm background check database as prohibited persons.
If these people ever try to buy a gun, they will be turned away. If they have firearms registered, they will be confiscated.
This entire executive order flips our justice system on its head. The Social Security Administration has a quota to disarm at least 75,000 Americans each year.
They are adding these beneficiaries to the background check database and if the individual wants to protest their disarmament, they need to hire a lawyer and fight it in court.
These are people who rely on their Social Security benefits checks every month to survive. Most of them can’t afford to pay $10k on a lawyer to get their Constitutional rights back.
The worst part is this is completely legal. Deep within the Gun Control Act of 1968 is a provision that defines the term “mentally defective.” One of the ways to adjudicate an individual as being “mentally defective” is to conclude that they cannot manage their own affairs.
The Obama administration is taking a large population of elderly Americans who just want help making sure bills get paid on time and officially labeling them as “mentally defective” with “sub-human intellect.” And it is completely legal…
They are going after the most vulnerable among us because they know they can get away with it. They also don’t expect you to rise up against this and fight back.
As a citizen of this Republic, it is your duty to fight this!
An attack on one group’s Second Amendment rights is an attack on all of our Second Amendment rights.
The last time I checked, there’s no caveat in the Second Amendment that excludes Americans who are financially illiterate…
Luckily, Congress is starting to wake up. Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) has introduced the Social Security Beneficiary Second Amendment Rights Protection Act. It now is closing in on 160 co-sponsors. This legislation does one thing. It prohibits the Social Security Administration from using any financial literacy determination to recommend someone for disarmament.
The bill is just two-pages long but it would put an end to all of this!
The Social Security Administration has finalized this executive order and they have been working to implement it for a week. That means more disarmament letters and transferring all these names into the FBI’s prohibited person database. There are SEVEN other government agencies and departments rushing to do the same with their beneficiary lists before Trump takes office.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans stand to lose their 2nd Amendment rights if this executive order is allowed to stand. President Trump can’t just end this on his own. It requires an act of Congress.
And in order for that to happen, YOU need to rise up and demand that Congress make this a priority and pass the Social Security Beneficiary Second Amendment Rights Protection Act!
