Fellow Conservative,

It was actually pretty remarkable. As soon as the news broke that there was an attack at Ohio State University, failed-Vice Presidential Candidate and sitting-Virginia Senator Tim Kaine took to twitter and decried gun violence.

“Deeply saddened by the senseless act of gun violence at Ohio State this morning. Praying for the injured and the entire Buckeye community.”

It only took a few minutes for the news to come out that it was not a shooting. The only shots fired were those from Officer Alan Horujko.

The reason that there was no loss of life was because of Officer Horujko’s quick response time. Some are measuring his response time at less than a minute after the attack began.

If I have said it once, I have said it a million times: the only thing that brings these attacks to an end is the arrival on scene of someone with a gun. That can be a police officer like we saw this week at OSU, an off-duty officer like the response to the Minnesota mall stabbing spree, or the arrival of an armed citizen.

As you read this, the Ohio State Legislature is working on a measure to allow concealed carry on college campuses so that if something like this happens again, students’ lives will not depend on police response time. But what about the rest of the country?

One of Donald Trump’s signature campaign promises was the implementation of Nationwide Concealed Carry Reciprocity. Now that we are less than 50 days away from inauguration, it is time to start bombarding Congress and demanding that this be made a priority!

This week’s attack proves that concealed carry reciprocity is 100% necessary. Send your FaxBlast to Congress and DEMAND that they pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act on day one!

Concealed carry reciprocity is really common sense. If someone is permitted to carry a concealed handgun in their home state, that right should apply nationwide. There is no caveat in the 2nd Amendment that says the right to bear arms applies only inside your home state.

The push for reciprocity is often likened to driver’s licenses. If someone passes a driver’s test in Texas, for example, it is generally understood that they are good enough to drive nationwide. It would simply be a nightmare to force people to pass a driver’s test in every state they want to visit.

This is CCW reciprocity in a nutshell.

If someone demonstrates the knowledge and fundamentals to be able to carry a concealed weapon for protection in one state, that permit should apply nationwide. Knowing how to defend yourself is universal. Now, just like a driver is required to understand the traffic laws of the states he is visiting, concealed carry reciprocity would also require that carriers understand the self-defense laws of other states.

Donald Trump supports concealed carry reciprocity. The National Rifle Association supports it. Every single state that Donald Trump won supports reciprocity.

The majority of Congressmen and Senators support reciprocity. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act has 216 co-sponsors in the House. The chairmen of the House and Senate committees that will decide whether the bill moves forward both support concealed carry reciprocity.

There is no excuse for this inaction. Right now, 1/4 of all Americans live in states that prohibit Americans from bearing arms for self-defense. This is unacceptable.

Members of Congress like to talk. They like to make promise after promise to the voters and then hide behind Obama’s veto pen as an excuse for inaction. That ends on January 20, 2017.

Winning this election was only the first step. Now it is up to all of us to hold Congress’ feet to the fire and force them to live up to their promises!

They expect you to sit back and let them pivot away from their campaign promises. Don’t let them do this!

This week’s attack proves that concealed carry reciprocity is 100% necessary. Send your FaxBlast to Congress and DEMAND that they pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act on day one!

Sincerely,

Max McGuire
