KILL THE “DEATH PANELS”

You thought this was another pro-life message, like Roe v. Wade, didn’t you?
It’s not! But in some way, it is very much like that from 40 years ago….
Filed on January 23, is ROE V. OBAMACARE DEATH PANELS!!!
So, in a way, it is like saving lives! Yes, H.R. 351, along with 83 bi-partisan Co-Sponsors, so far, has been filed by Rep. Dr. Phillip Roe (R-TN). Basically, this bill will positively get rid of ObamaCare’s “Death Panels.”
House Resolution 351 is called the “Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act.” This legislation would REPEAL the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).
Many seniors, not reading every single word of the 2,700-page document called “ObamaCare,” were very leery of the section that some referred to as “death panels.” Not only will this bill KILL these so-called “death panels,” but it is the beginning of chipping away at this enormous, burdensome, cost-raising supposed health care reform that was crammed down our throats by the back-room deals done by this administration. WE MUST FAX EVERY CONGRESSMAN TO SUPPORT THIS BILL!
Himself a medical doctor, Rep. Phil Roe of Tennessee declared: “I am proud to reintroduce this important legislation. As a physician with more than 30 years of experience, I find the ability of this board to intervene in the patient-doctor relationship particularly troubling. I believe my bill is a testament to the fact that members of Congress can put party politics aside, come together and do what’s right for our seniors. I will continue to push for a full repeal of the IPAB, and I look forward to working with my colleagues—both Republicans and Democrats—to protect and preserve Medicare.”
You will recall that the IPAB is to be a medical advisory board of bureaucrats that make hard and cold decisions as to what people are “worthy” of various medical treatments, especially in their more mature years, trying to save money for the United States.
It is a direct confrontation against seniors everywhere. Just the thought that some bureaucrat could be judge and jury over someone’s life created a strong DISDAIN for this portion of ObamaCare especially!
U.S. Rep. Roe is the leader of the Republican Study Committee’s Healthcare Task Force. He has always opposed this part of President Obama’s controversial Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Board was created to reduce health care costs. Roe’s current bill, which is gaining momentum on both sides of the aisle, will literally SHUT DOWN this Board, which many referred to as the “Death Panel.”
The Board consists of 15 members, appointed by the president and confirmed by the United States Senate. However, they would have the full authority to authorize or unauthorized Medicare payments for medical procedures, regardless of doctor recommendations, strictly based on cost-cutting mentalities. Get this: there is no requirement that any $165,000-a-year Board member have medical training!
This IPAB was probably the most unpopular part of ObamaCare. That means there is a real strong chance that it can receive bipartisan support for votes. Then a companion bill would be presented in the U.S. Senate.
The lead Democrat and Cosponsor of H.R. 351 is Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), who stated: “I am proud to come together with Congressman Roe today to introduce the Protecting Seniors Access to Medicare Act. History has taught us that blunt instruments aimed at simply reducing costs are not the best solution. As stewards of our financial resources, we need thoughtful policies that ensure access to quality and appropriate care for our seniors. We all agree that the rate of growth in costs under Medicare should and can be contained and that the current payment system is flawed and must be replaced. I am committed to working in a bipartisan manner to build upon this foundation to ensure we move to a different Medicare payment system that contains the rate of growth in costs and better ensures the sustainability of Medicare for current and future seniors.”
We must literally SEIZE THE MOMENT and begin to chip away at ObamaCare, even if it is only one step at a time. And this is the most bipartisan part of ObamaCare to start cutting!
Every senior must receive a good quality of life, even to the very end. That is what we think and that is what we believe you think. So please ACT NOW to save our seniors from these “Death Panels.”
