BREAKING: 1000% TAX on Your Semi/Automatic Weapons by House Democrats
This bill, designated as HR 5135, aims to amend the 1986 Internal Revenue Code by adding a 1000 percent excise tax. According to the proposal, semi-automatic rifles or pistols with fixed magazines of 10 rounds or more or with various other features, ranging in cost from $500 to $2,000, could incur expenses of $5,000 to over $20,000.
It's important to note that the full text of HR 5135 has not yet been disclosed to the public, leaving uncertainties regarding potential changes from the 2022 version of the bill.
Beyer asserts that this alteration is essential to "address the gun violence epidemic," aiming to "curb the influx of military-style weapons into American communities" and consequently prevent the ongoing outbreaks of shootings, violence, and crime that have been "plaguing our nation."
Donald Beyer has garnered support from 24 other House Representatives, all Democrats. As with the previous year, he is likely to promote and push this bill to the House once again. Beyer introduced the bill shortly after more than 100 House Democrats confronted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, expressing their "disappointment" with the lack of legislation from House Republicans to address gun violence in the United States. It would not be surprising to see more Democrats expressing their endorsement for the bill if and when it is presented in the House.
The pressing question is: how can such a bill even be introduced? This legislation blatantly targets working-class citizens and could render essential firearms unattainable for the average person. Moreover, it is undoubtedly a cunning strategy for Democrats to indirectly undermine the Second Amendment without overtly challenging it. This financial barrier would effectively prevent most individuals from acquiring assault rifles.
This bill cannot be allowed to pass; it represents a clear attempt to subvert the Second Amendment and to financially inhibit working-class citizens from acquiring the necessary firearms and means to safeguard themselves and their families.
As your elected representatives, it is your duty to safeguard and uphold the rights of the people.
