Proponents say the immigration reform bill known as Senate Bill S.744 could come up for a vote in the United States Senate as early as THIS TUESDAY! On Friday, the motion to proceed from Committee to the full Senate passed on Senate Bill S.744.
However, the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill headed to the Senate floor does NOT have the 60 votes it needs to advance! In spite of what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says, it will likely have to be partially rewritten to gain endorsement by Congress, proponents of the bill said.
IF PASSED WITHOUT ANY CHANGES, THIS BILL LEAVES OUR BORDERS INSECURE AND OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM DEEPLY DYSFUNCTIONAL!
Sources from both sides of the aisle that are working to build support for the bill agreed that garnering the necessary GOP votes would require amending the legislation to strengthen its border security components. Additionally, there are senators on both sides of the aisle who don't support the current measure because of provisions other than border security who also must be satisfied.
The bottom line is a majority of Americans insist on tougher border security! Public opinion surveys show that the American people want the border secured and current laws enforced before we even discuss amnesty.
The Gang of Eight can't defend their own amnesty bill, or even explain it to public or television audiences. Even the bill’s top leader, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), admits that it isn't acceptable in its present form and might have to be amended on the Senate floor.
The Gang's promise that aliens who receive amnesty must pay back taxes is a fraud because neither aliens nor employers have documentation for the years the illegal was paid in cash.
This terrible bill, AS IS, doesn't make any pretense of securing the border first.
If passed, S.744 gives us only promises and “pie-in-the-sky” plans, but no reason to believe any of them because all our government's promises about border security, implementation of an entry-exit system and workplace verification of employee identity have been repeatedly and unashamedly broken.
The Gang of Eight bill allows the Obama administration to decide which laws to enforce. Every S.744 provision allows Obama bureaucrats to issue waivers to avoid enforcement, a wrinkle that fits perfectly with Obama's governing style, i.e., rule by executive-branch regulations instead of by constitutional legislation.
S.744 will continue to increase our current illegal population. The Gang of Eight bill not only fails to enforce the federal law against giving college-tuition preference to illegal aliens (which Obama unconstitutionally violated by executive order), but it also guarantees states the right to offer in-state tuition to future illegal aliens.
The Gang of Eight bill will give work permits immediately to 11 million illegal aliens, and then give green cards within seven years to another 4.3 million foreigners who have applied in chain migration categories. These work permits will flood our labor market with millions of aliens and make unemployment a bigger crisis than it is now.
This “Gang of 8” legislation would devastatingly INCREASE the numbers of immigrants, pushing the jobless percentage up! Of course the entire bill is an attack on unemployed American workers. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka called the bill: “an unambiguous attack on American workers.”
Please let Congress know your view on this issue today! Tomorrow may be too late!

This AMNESTY BILL promulgated by the “Gang of 8” is nothing near immigration reform! It resembles amnesty first; then enforcement possibly later that will cause an astronomical amount of illegals to become citizens.
Now here is another hard pill to swallow: Yes, there are other reasons why the “Gang of 8” likes this bill. It exempts ski and snowboard instructors from the visa cap in order to benefit Colorado, exempts meat-packing workers to benefit South Carolina and exempts workers who repair cruise ships to benefit Florida, all states that have Senators on the Gang of Eight. Hello!?!
This bill is not about immigration reform or border security It is outright blanket amnesty for MILLIONS of ILLEGAL immigrants, taking jobs away from “legal” Americans! In reality this bill is much WORSE than amnesty. There is NO reform at all.
A real amnesty is worth lawmakers’ discussing. Offering rewards for breaking the law is not. This bill must be TOTALLY REJECTED!!
