Dear Conservative

Earlier this year, it came to light that the IRS had unlawfully targeted conservative and Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny during their applications to become tax-exempt organizations. After the landslide conservative victory in the 2010 midterm elections, critics argue that the IRS deliberately made it more difficult for Tea Party groups to have the same sort of success in 2012.

The Obama administration argues that these ‘extra precautions’ were to ensure that organizations did not take advantage of the tax law to engage in politics. In reality, we know that the IRS was only targeting conservative organizations, completely ignoring liberal groups like and Organizing for America…

Well, this week the IRS took a step to ensure that it would never again be accused of unfairly targeting conservative groups… by clarifying that such groups should not be eligible for tax-exempt status to begin with!

targetEssentially, rather than admitting the IRS was wrong to target these groups, the administration has decided to change the rules to justify their actions moving forward!

To clarify, this is only a proposed rule change. The IRS has opened this up for “public comment,” meaning this is what the administration plans to do, but they technically have to run this rule change by the public first.

Are you going to let them codify and legitimize their hatred for conservative groups?

FAX Congress: Insist this administration STOP the IRS from legitimizing and institutionalizing the vilification of conservative groups!

It takes a certain type of arrogance for the administration to deny wrongdoing, only to try to change the rules in order to legitimize future unethical behavior.

In order to ensure an Obama victory in 2012, the Internal Revenue Service made it nearly impossible for new conservative and Tea Party groups to gain a tax exempt status and affect the election. The Obama administration was terrified of a repeat of the 2010 midterm elections, and the president’s supporters within the government did everything they could to stop conservatives from rallying their base.

It is estimated that Tea Party groups increased voter turnout by upwards of 6 million votes during the 2010 midterm election. God only knows how these groups would have been able to affect the 2012 election if the IRS wasn’t unfairly targeting them and hindering their outreach efforts.

It is absolutely despicable that the IRS did this. But it pales in comparison to what the IRS is doing now, nonchalantly changing the rules to justify their unethical behavior. When first confronted with the allegations, President Obama responded that his administration would work to ensure that “such conduct never happens again… regardless of how this conduct was allowed to take place, the bottom line is, it was wrong.”

Well, now that the scandal has faded from the spotlight, the IRS has decided to change its rules. What was “wrong” earlier this year will, under this proposed rule change, be seen as a best practice within the administration. Instead of changing its practices, the Obama administration is changing the rules within the tax code to justify extra scrutiny towards tea party groups and the revocation of their tax exempt statuses.

The IRS is soliciting comments from the public on this matter. Let’s send a clear message to Congress that these rule changes are unacceptable.

FAX Congress: Insist the IRS stop this completely unacceptable targeting and threatening of Conservatives.

These conservative and Tea Party groups are completely operating within the law, but have been forced to undergo wave after wave of interrogations asking about their members’ religious beliefs and even preferred reading lists.

Now the Obama administration is trying to institutionalize these scummy!

The Founding Fathers would be ashamed of this. Changing the rules within the tax-code in order to legalize the targeting of opposition groups can only be classified as tyranny!

Discuss it on Facebook!

Unfortunately for the Barack Obama, all proposed rule changes must accept “comments from the public.” This is your opportunity to STOP the Obama administration from changing the rules to make it acceptable to deliberately target conservative groups!

If the rule is changed, it will be too late. We have a short window of opportunity to reach out to Congress and urge them to stop this atrocity from moving forward.

Together we can stop the Obama administration from changing the rules within the tax code and declaring open-season on conservative and Tea Party organizations.

Fax Congress: Tell them to STOP the IRS from legitimizing and institutionalizing the vilification of conservative groups!
