BREAKING NEWS: Harry Reid has announced that Senator Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban will NOT be a part of the gun control bill set for debate next month.
The good news is that Feinstein’s ban will be left out; the bad news is that now, because this issue is no longer a part of the package, Democrats hope they will be able to gather strong support for the remaining language. And Feinstein hasn’t given up; she is going to still offer up a military-style firearm ban as an amendment, which she will need 60 votes.
The fact that the assault weapons ban is being left out of the bill means there is not enough support for it, which again, we should be thankful for. It means Members of Congress are listening to citizens who are rallying behind the Second Amendment.
But because the assault weapons ban was so controversial, Democrats are hoping with it off the table the rest of the gun control bill will pass without trouble.
In fact, Democrats believe the ban on large-capacity magazines should pass with flying colors. The Senate Judiciary Committee has already approved four gun control measures, including requiring background checks. The Left isn’t backing down on gun control; they are simply changing the playing field so they can gain as much leverage as possible.
If they have to make silly arguments on television about global warming being responsible for gun violence, they will, and if they have to bully gun manufacturers behind the scenes and drive them all out of business, they will do that too. Logical arguments don’t work on them, and they know that a majority of Americans are very upset about their attacks on the Second Amendment.

The fight has begun. Demand Congress defends our Second Amendment. If we do not fight Obama’s gun control agenda, violence, crime, and tyranny will be the foundation of a new United States of America.
In fact, Texas Representative Ted Poe is warning that the U.S. is headed toward a “Mexico Model” of gun control, in which only the government and criminals will possess guns. We know the federal government is amassing weapons, tanks, bullets and checkpoints—for what, we don’t know. And as they do this, gun control zealots in Congress are working with the President to take away your right to own and operate a firearm.
"U.S. cities are moving toward the Mexico model. Guns are outlawed in Mexico. The citizens cannot possess guns; there is no Second Amendment. So the government has guns, and criminals have guns. Chicago and Washington, D.C., have laws that make it very difficult for a citizen to exercise the Second Amendment. All three places, Mexico, Chicago, Washington, D.C., all have a reputation of violent unsafe places,” Poe said.
You and I know that gun regulations will not regulate the lawless—as the lawless, by definition, do not follow the law. These draconian measures will only punish decent, law-abiding citizens.
Every single Member of Congress needs to know that we will not compromise our Constitutional rights, and we will hold those who do accountable in 2014, 2016, and beyond.
The NRA warns, “Make no mistake: The fate of our nation hangs on what we do now.”
