I am writing to convey my profound concern regarding the impending 77th World Health Assembly, scheduled from May 27 to June 1, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland. It has come to my attention that the World Health Organization (WHO) intends to exert pressure on member nations of the UN to sign onto their pandemic treaty, a move that threatens national sovereignty and individual liberties.

In a laudable demonstration of leadership, all Republican senators, led by Senator Ron Johnson, recently urged President Joe Biden to withdraw his support for expanding the World Health Organization’s pandemic authority. As a constituent, I echo this sentiment unequivocally and demand that the United States categorically REJECT the WHO’s pandemic treaty, along with any proposed International Health Regulations (IHR) amendments. The people will NOT yield to a global health authority that undermines our inherent rights and freedoms.

The WHO's pandemic treaty, coupled with the proposed IHR amendments, represents a thinly veiled attempt to consolidate unchecked authority over nations during crises. It is deeply alarming that the World Health Assembly clandestinely agreed to shorten the period during which nations can opt out of future IHR amendments, thereby diminishing our ability to uphold national sovereignty. These actions underscore the urgent imperative for Congress to intercede and safeguard our constitutional rights.

Furthermore, WHO Director Tedros Ghebreyesus is exerting pressure for unanimous agreement on the pandemic treaty during the forthcoming assembly. This underscores the critical significance of the letter dispatched by the 49 Republican senators to President Biden. Every Republican Senator has rightly demanded the withdrawal of US support for the treaty and IHR amendments. If the US chooses to proceed with the WHO’s agenda, it must be subjected to rigorous congressional scrutiny, necessitating a 2/3 vote for approval.

The WHO’s ineffectual response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its audacious overreach in conferring emergency powers epitomize the organization's failure to discharge its mandate while respecting national sovereignty. The grant of such powers represents an intolerable affront to U.S. sovereignty and must be resolutely opposed.

As a staunch American citizen, I firmly assert that it is our exclusive prerogative to determine how we navigate global pandemics in accordance with our Constitution. We vehemently reject any endeavor to institute a global health authority that undermines our fundamental freedoms.

Congress, the time for decisive action is now. I implore you to advocate for the withdrawal of the United States from the WHO, rebuff the pandemic treaty, and vehemently oppose any IHR amendments encroaching upon our sovereignty. Our elected representatives must honor their oath, defend our Constitution, and safeguard our cherished freedom.
