Are we to believe that a firefighter would hinder the use of water, the very tool they rely upon to combat fires? This blatant disregard for common sense and public safety is nothing short of outrageous.

Adding salt to the wound, it has come to light that active-duty military personnel were not called upon for assistance. This reveals a level of incompetence and mismanagement that is both infuriating and incomprehensible.

The tragedies of these fires are magnified by the fact that as of Monday, at least 115 individuals have been confirmed dead, and more than 1,100 remain unaccounted for. This staggering loss of life demands accountability and action.

The delays in response, the failure of technology, and the inexplicable actions of Hawaiian officials must be brought to light through a thorough and unrelenting investigation. The American people demand answers, and the residents of Maui, who have suffered immeasurable loss, deserve justice and support.

Speaker McCarthy's proposal to launch an investigation is just the beginning. It is imperative that Congress stands resolutely behind this proposition, ensuring that those who have failed the residents of Maui are held accountable and that similar catastrophes are prevented in the future.

I implore you to champion this cause, to rally your colleagues, and to assert the will of the American people in demanding a comprehensive investigation into the actions and failures of Hawaiian officials.
